Virginia A. "Ginny" Gehrig, age 81 of Alhambra, IL, died Sunday, February 17, 2019, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL. She was born on Monday, April 05, 1937, in Glen Carbon, IL, the daughter of Arno and Blanche (nee Bezdek) Riggs. On Sunday, October 03, 1954, she married Donald F. Gehrig who survives. She was an active member of Salem United Church of Christ, Alhambra, IL, and the Church Choir. She was born and raised in Glen Carbon, IL; graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1954. She worked for Florist Insurance Co., Edwardsville, for two years and then became a homemaker raising her children. She and her husband lived a short time in Edwardsville and then lived in Alhambra ever since. She enjoyed playing golf, tennis, the piano, singing in the church choir, an avid Bridge player, loved going to all her grandchildren's events and spending time with family. She was preceded in death by: Father - Arno A. Riggs - Died 9/16/1967 Mother - Blanche M. Riggs (nee Bezdek) - Died 9/26/2005 Brother - Ronald Riggs - Died 7/6/1982. Great Grandchild - Dayne Gehrig - Died 2/11/2012 Arrangements are being handled by Dauderman Mortuary in Alhambra, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra, IL. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra, IL., with John Mindrup - Assistant Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Salem Cemetery in Alhambra, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Church of Christ or Donor's Choice.
