Venita A. Seifried

Venita A. Seifried, age 83 of Highland, IL, died Saturday, November 27, 2010, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL. She was born on Saturday, January 08, 1927, in Pocahontas, IL, the daughter of William and Selma (nee Weiss) Korte. On Saturday, March 16, 1946, she married Kenneth V. Seifried who passed away July 6, 2008. She was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church and the VFW Auxiliary Post #5694, Highland, IL. Mrs. Seifried was born west of Pocahontas, IL and grew up there. She graduated from Pocahontas High School. Worked at Highland Garment Factory; then worked in St. Louis, Venita at Barry Mfg. altering men\'s suits. She made many quilts with her daughters for the family. After her husband\'s retirment, they moved from Florissant, MO to live in Highland, and a few years in Millersburg, IL. They had also lived in Pinellas Park, Florida while he worked at Cape Kennedy. She and her husband had traveled extensively including China, Alaska, Eastern Canada and Hawaii.She enjoyed sewing, quilting, bingo, bowling and bird watching. Seifried, Raleigh, NC; Daughter - Mary L. (Kevin) Osiek, Florissant, MO; Daughter-in-law - Sherry Seifried, Biscoe, NC; Sisters - Cornelia \"Connie\" E. (Ray) Werner, Highland, IL and Selma \"Sally\" E. (Donald) Stubbs, Savannah, GA; Grandchildren - Lisa D. (Scott) Riegel; Tracy R. Von Rohr; Daniel (Nicole) O\'Dell; Elizabeth (Jason) Quate; David \"Gene\" E. Seifried, Jr.; Jessica L. (Richard) Nelson and Joe W. Perkins; and 14 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: Father - William H. Korte, died 4/14/75; Mother - Selma E. (Weiss) Korte, died 1/14/76; Husband - Kenneth V. Seifried, died 7/6/08; Son - David E. Seifried, died 2/1/04; Sister - Wilma T. Willmann, died 6/21/08; Sister - Alberta F. Whitney, died 3/4/78; Brother - Celeste \"Cele\" Korte, died 3/6/89; Brother - Virgil A. Korte, died 1/21/05; Sister - Jeanette \"Jan\" C. Willmann, died 12/5/91; Sister - Delores C. Coleman, died 8/18/67; Brother - Richard T. Korte, died 6/27/79;Brother - William H. Korte, died as infant and Son In-law - Richard L. VonRohr died 12/8/09.
