Udell W. Wehling, age 86 of Alhambra, IL, died Monday, June 04, 2012, at Alhambra Care Center in Alhambra, IL. He was born on Thursday, October 15, 1925, in Alhambra, IL, the son of William and Bertha (nee Pauly) Wehling. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Alhambra, IL; former member of Teamsters Local 525; member of Youth Fellowship and past president; Men's Fellowship; Madison County 4-H Leader; Alhambra Community Club over 50 years; Madison County Farm Bureau Board of Directors; Madison County A.S.C. Committee; Illinois Division of the American Dairy Assoc. Udell was born in Alhambra, attended West Grade School, Alhambra School and Highland High School. He operated a Dairy Farm in Alhambra for 25 years. Worked for IDOT for 20 years. He served on the Church Council for seven years; holding the office of Recording Secretary for three years and Financial Secretary for four years. He taught Sunday school for over 50 years. He was past president of the Youth Fellowship and Men's Fellowship in both church and church conference. He was active in politics. He held the Office of Precinct Committee Man for 28 years and served as Treasurer of the Madison County Republican Central Committee for 24 years. He was the past National President of Illinois Division of the ATA Thief Association and was the Secretary for 40 years. He was a Government Crop Reporter and a Farm Panelist for Doanes Agicultural Service. He was instrumental in getting the Community Club in Alhambra to fly the American Flag on National Holidays. He originated the idea of a merger of the Alhambra and Grantfork Telephone Companies. He enjoyed reading, playing cards and following sports. Survivors include: Many Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by: Father - William Wehling died 5/14/1967 Mother - Bertha Wehling nee Pauly died 12/9/1969 Wife - Jean L. Wehling nee Dierkes died 12/15/2000 Brother - Roland Wehling Sister - Iola Isenberg Sister - Leona Scheibe Sister - Juanita Frueh. Service Information Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, June 08, 2012, at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra, IL. Memorial Service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 08, 2012, at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra, IL., with Rev. Jerry Amiri, Pastor. Interment will be at Salem Cemetery in Alhambra, IL.
