Thomas E. "Tom" Miller, age 69 of Highland, IL, died Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Highland, IL. He was born on Tuesday, April 01, 1947, in Highland, IL, the son of Elwaine and Louise (nee Jacober) Miller. On, Saturday, May 24, 1975, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL, he married Sharon I. Miller (nee Heim) at St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL, who survives. He was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church; VFW Post #5694, Highland, IL. Born and raised at Highland, IL; graduated from Highland High School in 1965. He served with the US Navy from June of 1965 to May of 1969; active duty during the Vietnam War. He lived a short time in California; moved back to Highland and worked for: Basler Electric; operated his parent's tavern P & L Tavern; Dowell Industries; Arrow Group Industries; owned and operated Miller Upholstery, from 1985 to 1989; custodian for Highland High School, from 1989 to 2009. He enjoyed fishing, coin collecting, socializing and time with his grandchildren and family. Survivors include: Wife - Sharon I. Miller (nee Heim), Highland, IL Son - Darren S. Miller, Highland, Grandchild - Lucille M. Miller, Highland, IL Grandchild - Edward M. Miller, Highland, IL Brother - Dennis J. (Starr) Miller, Highland, IL Brother - Michael L. Miller, Charlotte, NC Sister - Beatrice K. "Bea" (Gerald "Gerry") Strieker, Aviston, IL Brother - Patrick J. (Connie) Miller, Sorento, IL. He was preceded in death by: Father - Elwaine V. "Pete" Miller (died 6/12/1981) Mother - Louise C. Miller, nee Jacober (died 1/29/1999) Grandchild - Raymond T. Miller (died 2/2/2014). Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, September 30, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM on Saturday, October 01, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 01, 2016, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL., with Rev. Father Pat G. Jakel, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
