Rev. Dr. Thomas G. Drewer, age 71 of Highland, IL, died Tuesday, October 04, 2016, at his residence in Highland, IL. He was born April 04, 1945, in Saint Louis, MO, the son of John and Fay (nee Ottenad) Drewer. On November 22, 1998, he married Sue Ellen Kustermann nee Feurer. She survives in Highland, IL . He was a member of United Church of Christ of Marine. He was also a former member of Highland Rotary Club; former member of Faith Countryside Home Board of Directors. Thomas was born and grew up in St. Louis, MO. He was a 1964 graduate of Mehlville High School. In 1968 received his BA at Central Methodist College; 1972 received his Master of Divinity and in 1990 received his Doctor of Ministry at Eden Theological Seminary. Thomas was ordained by Illinois Conference of the UCC on May 21, 1972. He served as Pastor of St. Paul UCC in Old Monroe, Mo from 1972 to 1976; Pastor of Faith Salem UCC in Jennings, MO from 1976 to 1981; Pastor of St. Luke's UCC in Imperial, MO from 1981 to 1985; Pastor of Immanuel UCC in Peotone, IL from 1985 to 1996; Senior Pastor of Evangelical UCC in Highland, IL from 1996 to 2005, retiring due to health reasons. He served as Interim Pastor of St. John UCC in Breese, IL in his retirement.As a youth; his passion and joy was the family's horses. He enjoyed musical theater and watching his wife's performances, gardening and growing flowers. He enjoyed cruises (14 different ones). He love Sunday morning worships at Homestead Harvest Days in Highland, IL. He enjoyed Classical Music his entire life. Drewer, nee Gibson (married in Sept. 1968; died July, 30, 1994) Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 06, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, October 07, 2016, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 07, 2016, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL., with Rev. Philip H. Kershner and Rev. Chris Hill officiating. Interment will be Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Saint Paul Cemetery in Oakville, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to United Church of Christ of Marine, Marine, IL or United Church of Christ Illinois South Conference.
