Sandra J. "Sandy" Hediger, age 68 of Grantfork, IL, died Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Deceased's Residence in Grantfork, IL. She was born on Thursday, September 30, 1948, in Brownstown, IL, the daughter of Kenneth and Rosemary (nee Kersten) Allen. On Saturday, July 22, 1967, she married Donald E. Hediger at Salem United Church of Christ, Alhambra, IL, who survives. She was a member of Grantfork United Church of Christ; Ladies Auxiliary -Grantfork Volunteer Fire Department; Madison County Pork Producers; Lake & Leisure Club @ Governor Bond Lake. Born at Brownstown, IL; at age 16 her family moved to Alhambra and she was a 1966 graduate of Highland High School. She attended Beauty School and became a licensed Hair Dresser. After marriage they lived in Alhambra and in 1970 they moved to Grantfork. She and her husband operated a hog and grain farm and Hediger Backhoe Service. She was an integral part of the family business and operations. She also ran a beauty shop for many years. She enjoyed crafts, painting, cross stitching, sewing, dancing, camping and boating at Governor Bond Lake, riding the trike motorcycle and bowling Tuesday nights in the mixed league at Grantfork Bowl. She was a Grant Prairie-Grantfork, 4-H Leader. She loved her time with family and friends and especially with her grandchildren. Survivors include: Husband - Donald E. (nee Henschen) Hediger. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Grantfork United Church of Christ in Grantfork, IL. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Grantfork United Church of Christ in Grantfork, IL., with Rev. Tim A. Darmour-Paul, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Grantfork United Church of Christ Cemetery in Grantfork, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or Grantfork UCC Cemetery.
