Richard Johnson

Richard Edward Johnson, age 82, of Highland, IL., died Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at Faith Care Center/Faith Countryside Hms in Highland, IL. He was born July 21, 1926, in Chicago, IL., the son of Sigarth and Lillian (Lowe) Johnson. On June 17, 1950, he married Marilyn S. Johnson, nee Copple , who survives. Mr. Johnson was born in Chicago, IL. He graduated from Maine Township High School in 1944 where he was President of his senior class and Capt. of the basketball team. He served in the US Navy from 1944-1945. He got his BS in Marketing at UCLA and spent most of his career in advertising and marketing. He was a photographer and an avid golfer. Richard was multi-talented and had many interests. He had many great life-long friendships and was a good family man. He was a member of Lakeway Church-Lakeway, Texas. He was also a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon; Rotary International; Board of Lakeway Recreation Assoc.-Lakeway, TX; Board of LYCC, Lakeway, TX; Geneva Country Club Past President, Muscatine, IA; Muscatine Art Center Past President, Muscatine, IA; Community Volunteer at City Hall, Lakeway,TX; North Barrington Planning Commission-N. Barrington, IL; Muscatine, IA Camera Club. Survivors include Wife-Marilyn S. Johnson, nee Copple of Highland, Ill., Daughter-Jill L. (Douglas) Keeney of Louisville, Ky., Son-Richard \"Chip\" E. (Leslie) Johnson, Jr. of Gorham, Maine, Son-Thomas J. (Nancy) Johnson of Louisville, Ky., Daughter-Julie J. (Phil) Johnson Mason of Highland, Ill., Son-James S. (Brooke) Johnson of Olympia, Wash., Grandchild-Doug Keeney, Grandchild-Alex Keeney, Grandchild-Rich Johnson, Grandchild-Judd Johnson, Grandchild-Owen Johnson, Grandchild-Jeff Mason, Grandchild-Marilyn Mason, Grandchild-Joel Mason, Grandchild-Hannah Johnson, Grandchild-Luke Johnson, Step Grandchild-Michael Williams, Step Grandchild-Gabriel Williams, Sister-Elaine Carlson of Venice, Fla. He was preceeded in death by Father-Sigarth N. Johnson, Mother-Lillian Mary Johnson, nee Lowe, Brother-Sigarth \"Bud\" N. Johnson, Jr. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Ill.
