Richard W. Boeker, age 80 of Hamel, IL, died Sunday, February 08, 2015, at Deceased's Residence in Hamel, IL. He was born on Thursday, October 24, 1934, in Hamel, IL, the son of Erwin and Martha (nee Schroeder) Boeker. On Saturday, September 06, 1958, he married Margie A. Boeker nee Abert who survives. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hamel, IL; Southern Illinois Builders Association, Board of Directors (3 years); Village of Hamel, Trustee (1977-1987); Village of Hamel, Mayor (1987-1995); Bond Madison Water Company (Board Member); former member of the Hamel Volunteer Fire Department.. Mr. Boeker was born in Hamel, IL. He graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1952 and began his career in construction as a residential carpenter apprentice at Wm. Ohm & Son in Hamel, IL. From 1954-1956, he joined the U.S. Army, active duty in Germany. In the mid-1950's he worked as a carpenter for H.F. Martin Construction in Hamel, IL and then for Hellrung Construction in Alton, IL, promoted to a foreman on commercial construction projects, until 1966. In 1966, he started R.W. Boeker Company Inc. in Hamel as a residential general contractor and then into commercial construction in 1972. Survivors include: Wife - Margie A. Boeker (nee Abert), Hamel, IL Son - Scott R. Boeker, Hamel, IL Son - Kerry L. Boeker, Hamel, IL Daughter - Stacy R. (John) Bond, Edwardsville, IL Grandchild - Shelby R. Boeker, Hamel, IL Grandchild - Abbey M. Boeker, Hamel, IL Grandchild - Taylor M. Bond, Edwardsville, IL Sister - Dolores E. Valent, Edwardsville, IL Sister In-law - Shirley M. Olsen, Hamel, IL Sister In-law - Helen F. Beshears, Hamel, IL Sister In-law - Fern E. Scheller, Alhambra, IL Sister In-law - Linda Abert, Alhambra, Sister In-law - Verna Abert, Highland. He was preceded in death by: Father - Erwin W. Boeker Mother - Martha L. Boeker (nee Schroeder) Brother In-law - Rollin E. Abert Sister In-law - Betty J. Olive Brother In-law - Russell Abert Sister In-law - Vernette Hunsche Brother In-law - Joe Olsen Brother In-law - Don Beshears Brother In-law - Richard L. "Dick" Scheller Brother In-law - Charles Hunsche . Arrangements are being handled by Dauderman Mortuary in Hamel, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel, IL and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel, IL. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 12, 2015, at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel, IL., with Rev. Benjamin Ball, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Hamel, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
