Randy A. Grater

Randy A. Grater, age 58 of Highland, IL, died Friday, November 22, 2019, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Highland, IL. He was born on December 28, 1960, in East St. Louis, IL, the son of Clarence M. and Ida M. (nee Miller) Grater. On November 15, 1980, he married Vicki L. Lockeby at St. Jacob, IL. She survives in Highland. He was a member of Saint Jacob United Church of Christ. He was also a member of "Angels in Action"; "B.A.S.S. World Sports"; Grater HUCH Fishing Team; and International Association of Machinist AFL-CIO Local #660, E. Alton, IL. Randy was born in East St. Louis, IL and moved to Belleville in the 1960's. He was a graduate of Triad High School in 1979. He started work at B-Line (Cooper B-Line, Eaton) in 1979, and had been working there over 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, vacationing and traveling to quality fishing spots, attended Billiard Leagues and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Randy managed Mick's Lake Campground from 1981 to 2001. Survivors include: Wife - Vicki L. Grater, nee Lockeby, Highland, IL Son - Randy A. "Adam" Grater, Jr., Highland, IL Grandchild - Derek "D.J." Grater, Troy, IL Grandchild - Joseph P. Grater, Highland, IL Grandchild - Aimee C. Jansen, Highland, IL Sister - Deanna (Bob) Kelly Marcus, Seabrook, TX Father-in-law and Mother-in-law - James R. & Rosa L. (nee Schiefer) Lockeby, Saint Jacob, IL Several Nieces and Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews, and Great Great Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by: Father - Clarence M. Grater - Died 12/22/1992 Mother - Ida M. Grater, nee Miller - Died 2/25/1992 Daughter - Randallynn Renee Grater - Died 12/07/2000 Sister - Joan Tarr Brother - Gary Price - Died August 2018 Brother In-law - Rick Lockeby - Died 11/13/2018 Sister - Dixie Reed Luther Niece - Phylis Scobbie Niece - Sandra Stoops Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, Cory Musgrave, Pastor, New Beginnings Church-Assembly of God, Fairfield, IL:, officiating. Interment will be at Keystone Cemetery in Saint Jacob, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to the Family.
