Mary Ann Korte, age 69 of Highland, IL, died Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Christian Hospital Northeast-BJC in Saint Louis, MO. She was born on Wednesday, July 19, 1944, in Highland, IL, the daughter of Elmer J. and Theresa M. (nee Stoff) Lebegue. On Saturday, May 31, 1969, she married Maurice J. Korte who passed away on Sunday, November 09, 2008. She was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL; Saint Joseph Hospital Auxiliary (Board Member)-Highland, IL; VFW Post #5694 Ladies Auxiliary, Highland, IL; Knights of Columbus Council 1580 Ladies Auxiliary, Highland, IL; former member of the Beta Sigma Phi-Highland, IL. Born and reared in Highland, IL; graduated from St. Paul High School, Highland, IL in 1962. She had volunteered and worked at St. Joseph Hospital while in High School. She worked at Boatman's Bank, St. Louis, MO. She then started working for St. Joseph Hospital, June 30, 1969 and retired July 13, 2009. She enjoyed playing bingo, card club every month playing Canasta and lunch with her friends. She loved anything and everything that involved family and her grandchildren's dance and all their sporting events. Survivors include: Son - Mark J. (Kristin) Korte, Highland, IL Son - Michael J. Abendroth, Highland, IL Sister - Ellen Babich, Marion, IA Life Long Friend - Marilyn "Mona" Wick, Highland, IL She was preceded in death by: Father - Elmer J. Lebegue [DOD 5/30/1950] Mother - Theresa Mary Lebegue [DOD 8/28/1974] Husband - Maurice J. Korte [DOD 11/9/2008] Brother - Richard E. Lebegue [DOD 4/16/2001] Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, and from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM, on Friday, May 16, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 16, 2014, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL, with Father Scott A. Snider, Parochial Vicar, St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL, officiating. Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary; Friends of St. Joseph Hospital or St. Paul School Education Foundation.
