Marion F. Brown

Marion Francis Brown, "Pop", age 91 of rural Dorsey, IL, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at his residence. He was born October 19, 1921, in Mt. Vernon, SD, the son of Murry and Lilly (nee Williams) Brown. On October 26, 1941, he married Marjorie Lucille Garner who survives. He was a Master Mason of the 3rd degree, and member of Wood River Masonic Lodge. Marion was born in South Dakota and at age 8 his family moved to Corning, Iowa. After High School he joined the US Marine Corps and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII. After the war he and his wife settled in Alton. He worked as an Engineer at Olin Corp. and retired in the mid 1980's. His passion was spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. He liked to take them fishing, and raised all kinds of animals on his property for of his grandkids play with. He loved the outdoors and liked camping and crappie fishing. Brown Mother - Lilly Agnes Brown nee Williams Brothers - Two Sisters - Two Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, August 02, 2013, at Dauderman Mortuary in Hamel, IL and from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Dauderman Mortuary in Hamel, IL on Saturday. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 03, 2013, at Dauderman Mortuary in Hamel, IL., with Rev. Kevin Weaver officiating. Interment will be at Immanuel UCC Cemetery in Hamel, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Treehouse Bird Sanctuary in Godfrey.
