Marie H. Luber, age 94 of Highland, IL, died Sunday, March 02, 2014, at Faith Countryside Homes/Faith Care Center in Highland, IL. She was born on Monday, April 07, 1919, in St. Rose, IL, the daughter of August "Gus" and Anna (nee Haselhorst) Wessel. On Thursday, November 25, 1943, she married Herbert A. Luber who passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012. She was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL; former member of the Daughters of Isabella - Sacred Heart Circle #237, Highland, IL. Born at St. Rose, Illinois; attended St. Rose School. She worked at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL, as a nurse's aide. Following her marriage she stayed home and reared her boys. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking pies and cakes and was very faithful to her church. She and her husband lived in Pierron, IL until 35 years ago when they moved to Highland. (Mary) Luber, Oswego, IL Sister - Betty (Norbert) Venhaus, St. Peters, MO Brother - Anthony (LaVerne) Wessel, Montgomery City, MO Seventeen Grandchildren Fifteen Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by: Father - August "Gus" Wessel Mother - Anna Wessel, nee Haselhorst Husband - Herbert A. Luber (died 05/21/2012) Brother - Alphonse Wessel Sister - Veronica Gall Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 06, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, and from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM, on Friday, March 07, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 07, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pierron, IL, with Father Scott A. Snider, Parochial Vicar, officiating. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
