Lorraine G. Jakel, age 89 of Highland, IL, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Faith Care Center, Highland, IL. She was born on Saturday, February 07, 1925, in Pierron, IL, the daughter of Anton G. and Wilhelmina A. (nee Goestenkors) Korte. On Tuesday, March 05, 1946, she married Harvey R. Jakel who passed away on Wednesday, July 01, 2009. She was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL, Perpetual Adoration at St. Joseph; St. Joseph Ladies Auxiliary; former member of St. Gertrude Catholic Church; St. Gertrude Altar Society. Lorraine was born near Pierron, IL, and graduated Immaculate Conception Grade School. Later she and her husband operated a Dairy Farm east of Grantfork, IL, until 1985. She moved to Highland in 2004. She had been a resident of Faith Countryside Homes, Highland Home, Legacy Place and in the Winter of 2012 moved to Faith Care Center. As a young lady, she had worked at Moulton Bartley Shoe Factory and Wick's Aircraft. And, of course, worked on the family farm and raised her children. She enjoyed playing Euchre, sewing, baking, crocheting, and word search puzzles. She really enjoyed going out to eat and attending events for her children and grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, June 01, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, and from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM, on Monday, June 02, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 02, 2014, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL, with Father Pat G. Jakel, Pastor, St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Grantfork, IL, officiating. Interment will be at Saint Gertrude Catholic Cemetery in Grantfork, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Masses; St. Gertrude Catholic Church; Saint Paul School Educational Foundation.
