Leonard G. Schreiber

Leonard G. Schreiber, age 84 of Pierron, IL, died Sunday, January 08, 2017, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Highland, IL. He was born March 01, 1932, in Pierron, IL, the son of Robert and Anna (nee Goestenkors) Schreiber. On May 14, 1955, he married Lucille C. Carrillon at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Pierron, IL. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was also a member of Amalgamated Meat Cutters Local 534 (40 plus years); Pierron Improvement Club (1st President); Served on Musican's Union and the Highland/Pierron Fire Department Board. Leonard was born at Pierron, IL and grew up there and graduated from St. Paul High School, Highland, IL, in 1949. He worked at Schreiber Market, Pierron. He served with duty in Japan in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He started as a Meat Cutter at Highland IGA; later worked for Trenton IGA and retired in 1996. He raised horses, coached his sons' baseball teams, watched all his grandchildren and great grandchildren's activities, played the banjo in Don Shimer's Band and Happy Hats Band. He enjoyed playing Euchre and Jass and watching the St. Louis Cardinal Baseball. Survivors include : Wife - Lucille Catherine Schreiber, Pierron, IL Son - Michael L. Visitation will be held from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pierron, IL. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pierron, IL., with Father Scott A. Snider officiating. Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church - Shriner's Hospital for Children or St. Jude's Children's Hospital-Memphis.
