Kenneth V. Seifried

Kenneth V. Seifried, age 79, of Highland, IL., died Sunday, July 6, 2008, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL. He was born July 29, 1928, in Highland, IL., the son of Victor and Arline (Zobrist) Seifried. On March 16, 1946, he married Venita Ann Seifried, nee Korte , who survives. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church - Highland; VFW Post 5694-Highland; Former Am. Legion #439-Highland; Union @ McDonnell-Douglas; North China Marine Corp. Assoc.. Mr. Seifried was born at Highland and grew up in Highland. At age 17 he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and saw duty in China & Korea during the Korean War. He served on active duty for over 7 years. He worked at McDonnell-Douglas Corporation for over 31 years. During his career he helped with Skylab and worked for several years at Cape Kennedy. He was an Avionics Specialist. After his retirement he and his wife moved from Florissant, MO (l972-83) to live in Highland with a few years in Millersburg, IL. They had also lived in Pinellas Park, Florida while he worked at Cape Kennedy. For a number of years he had operated Seifried\'s Gun Shop, west of Highland, where he sold and repaired all types of guns. He had raised bird dogs for several years and was an avid hunter,fisherman/camper. In their retirement , he and his wife had travailed extensively including China, Alaska, Eastern Canada & Hawaii. Survivors include Wife-Venita Ann Seifried, nee Korte of Highland, Ill., Daughter-Patricia A. Steiner of Highland, Ill., Daughter-Catherine M. (Richard) Von Rohr of Pierron, Ill., Daughter-Christine L. (Daniel) O\'Dell of Greenville, Ill., Son-Keith E. Seifried of Raleigh, N.C., Daughter-Mary L. (Fiance Kevin Osick) Perkins of Florissant, Mo., Daughter-In-Law-Sherry Seifried of Biscoe, N.C., Grandchild-Lisa D. (Scott) Riegel, Grandchild-Tracy R. Von Rohr, Grandchild-Daniel (Nicole) O\'Dell, Grandchild-Elizabeth \"Beth\" (Jason) Quate, Grandchild-David E. \"Gene\" Seifried, Jr., Grandchild-Jessica L. (Richard) Nelson, Grandchild-Joe W. Perkins and Great Grandchildren-Thirteen. He was preceeded in death by Father-Victor Leo Seifried, Mother-Arline Selma Seifried, nee Zobrist, Son-David E. Seifried, Sr. (died 2/1/2004), Sister-Marilyn A. Wenzel (DOD 04/25/1993), Brother-Donald R. Seifried (DOD 04/04/2007), Brother-William J. Seifried.
