Janet J. Baumann

Janet J. Baumann, age 71 of Highland, IL, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital (BJC) in Saint Louis, MO. She was born on Sunday, August 25, 1940, in Litchfield, IL, the daughter of Norman and Mabel (nee Langendorf) Wehmeyer. On Sunday, September 06, 1992, she married Carl L. Baumann who survives . She was a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church, Hamel, IL. Janet was born in Litchfield, lL. She grew up in Edwardsville and attended Trinity Lutheran School and Edwardsville Senior High School, graduating in 1958. She earned a 4 year state scholarship. She attended classes in Alton, graduating from SIUE in 1974. She taught school in Edwardsville, Staunton, and Livingston school districts. Janet worked for Cassens Transport Co. for 19 years until her retirement in 2008.In 1961 she married Kenneth Reising of Hamel, IL. Janet taught school for seven years while helping on the family dairy farm and raising two children. Kenneth was killed in a farming accident in 1984. She married Carl Baumann in 1992. Janet had many interests including reading, cooking, and painting quilt patterns on their barns. Janet's love of children was evident throughout her life by teaching and by initiating activities for the children at every family event. Her family is grateful to all those who have been part of her battle with leukemia for the past three years. Her faith inspired countless people.
