James H. "Jim" Kuhner

James H. "Jim" Kuhner, age 81 of Highland, IL, died Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL. He was born on Tuesday, October 23, 1934, in Highland, IL, the son of Howard F. and Irene L. (nee Hotz) Kuhner. On Saturday, June 16, 1956, he married Darlene Jean (nee Pruitt) Kuhner at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL. She survives. He was a member of Highland Hope United Methodist Church and O.W.L.S. of Highland Hope United Methodist Church. He was a former member of St. Paul Catholic Church; former member of Highland Jaycee's; former member of Knights of Columbus Council #1510 (Past Grand Knight); former member of Knight of Columbus Fourth Degree. Jim was born and grew up in Highland, IL. He was a graduate of St. Paul High School, Class of 1952. He attended college and worked for his grandparents at Kuhner Sealtest Dairy. He as a salesman for General Cable, Famous Barr, Basler Electric, Todd Uniform and American Family. In his retirement, he worked at Highland Home for 12 years. He lived in Hamilton, IL from 1976 to 1981. When he was younger, he took care of his invalid father. He enjoyed making stained glass, family camping, and large family gatherings. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 01, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 01, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL., with Rev. Dr. Beverly Wilkes Null, officiating. Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Hope United Methodist Church; Heartland Hospice.
