James L. Klaus Sr.

James LaVerne Klaus, Sr., age 65 of rural Pocahontas, IL, died Friday, April 12, 2013, at his residence. He was born January 05, 1948, in Highland, IL, the son of LaVerne George and Fern Mary (nee Mettler) Klaus . On June 14, 1969, he married Carol Cleda Voegele who survives. He was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus #1580 in Highland - Highland Sportsman Club. James was born and grew up in Highland. He was a 1966 graduate of St. Paul High School. He attended Belleville Area College and graduated from SIU Edwardsville in 1971 with a degree in Accounting. He worked at Rock Island, IL as an accountant, He also worked at East St. Louis and Scott Air Force Base, and retired from Defense Finance and Accounting Services in St. Louis in June 2007. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, and playing with his grandchildren. He was very active in his faith attending Mass daily. He attended several Bible Study Groups and was #281 with St. Paul Cursillo joining in September 2011. Survivors include : Wife - Carol C. Klaus nee Voegele, Pocahontas, IL Daughter - Renee L. Clasquin, Highland, IL Grandchild - Gavin M. Klaus, Highland, IL Grandchild - Lucas W. Klaus, Saint Jacob, IL Grandchild - Jenna J. Marasco, Lake Villa, IL Grandchild - Krista Clasquin , Highland, IL Grandchild - Autumn O. Klaus, Highland, IL Grandchild - Jacob T. Marasco, Lake Villa, IL Great Grandchild - John A.
