Howard K. Cain

Howard Kenneth Cain, age 87, of Highland, IL., died Monday, November 24, 2008, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL. He was born April 15, 1921, in New Harmony, IN., the son of Carl and Mary (Conyers) Cain. On October 4, 1941, he married Bonnie Mae Cain, nee Wilson , who survives. He was a member of Highland Southern Baptist Chuch. Howard was born in New Harmony, IN and lived there till age 17. After his marriage he joined the US Navy during WW II. He served with an Amphibious Unit in Florida. After the war, he and his wife moved many times following his working career as a sheet metal worker. In 1960 they settled in Oakridge, TN, where Howard worked at Martin-Marietta Corp. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local # 69 and retired in 1987. In 1995 they moved to Highland, IL. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, reading and traveling with his beloved wife who he shared 67 years of marriage. He was also a member of Lee Iten American Legion Post #439 Highland Masonic Lodge #583 AF & AM Scottish Rite Bodies-Knoxville, TN Highland Eastern Star #524 Sheet Metal Workers Local #69. April 15, 1921 - November 24, 2008
