Harold E.\"Gene\" Tracy, age 84 of Marine, IL, died Thursday, March 10, 2011, at San Benito, TX. He was born on Tuesday, October 19, 1926, in Albany, TX, the son of Pearl Otis \"PO\" and Julia Mae (nee Hall) Tracy. On Saturday, June 29, 1946, he married Ruby Ellen Tracy (nee Werder) who passed away September 25, 2002. He was a member of United Church of Christ of Marine; Marine Lodge #355, AF & AM (60 year member & former Secretary); Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Southern Illinois - Belleville, IL (past membership chairman) York Rite Bodies - Granite City, IL; Ainad Temple, AAONOMS (Shriners) - (Life Member, 50 year member, Past Potentate - 1991); 33 degree Mason; Silver Lake Shrine Club; Ma-Cli-Bo Circus Unite; Mecca Club; Directors Staff of Ainad Temple; Clay County Shrine Club; Southern Illinois Court #86, Royal Order of Jesters (Past Director-1987); American Legion Becker-Reding Post 702 - Marine, IL (60 year member & Life Member); Veteran of Foreign Wars; Marine Lions Club; Elks Lodge-Fairview Heights, IL; Loyal Order of the Moose; Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels; Sons of the American Revolution; Great Lake Shrine Association (Past President-1994); Children\'s Dyslexia Center of Southern Illinois [a Scottish Rite Charity] (Board of Directors) Illinois Oil & Gas Association (Past President); Petrolium Club of Olney, IL; Mayor of Marine, IL (former mayor for 8 years). Gene was born @ Albany, TX; grew up around Healton, OK and graduated from Dundee High School in OK. While in school, at age 16, he drove a school bus. After graduation he entered the service and served with the US Army and US Army Air Corps. After his discharge, he returned to Marine and started Tracy Trucking Company in August of 1947. He had also operated school buses as Marine Transportation Company. H & R Oil Properties was started in the late 1950\'s. With facilities in Marine, Mt. Auburn, Centralia, Robinson/Oblong and Casey - his company hauls crude oil, water and does oil field construction. At age 84, he was still active in the operation of his businesses. He and his wife had traveled all 50 states, to Greece, Mexico, Canada, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Holland, Switzerland, and Ireland. They traveled extensively in their motor home. For over 20 years, Mr. Tracy has wintered in Florida and Texas. He was a former horse owner, enjoyed play dominos and pitching horseshoes. He enjoyed his grandchildren.
