Glenn E. Schumacher

Glenn E. Schumacher, age 80, of Alhambra, IL., died Saturday, October 11, 2008, at Alhambra Care Center in Alhambra, IL. He was born August 20, 1928, in Alhambra, IL., the son of Fred and Rika (nee Brakhane) Schumacher. On June 15, 1952, he married LaVerne E. (nee Schmidt) Schumacher , who survives. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hamel, IL. He was also a member of American Legion Post #1147, Alhambra, IL; Madison County Farm Bureau, past director; former member of the Operating Engineers, Local 520, Granite City, IL. Born in Alhambra Township, later graduating from Edwardsville High School in 1947. He served 2 years of active duty with the US Army during the Korean War. Stationed at Alaska. He was a life long farmer and a heavy equipment operator for 35 years. In his younger years he was an avid sportsman, playing basketball, baseball, bowling, he loved to quail and pheasant hunt and play pinocle. Most of all he loved to visit his children and grandchildren. Survivors include Wife-LaVerne E.
