Edward J. Guentensberger Jr.

Edward Joseph Guentensberger, Jr., age 95, of Highland, IL., died Friday, October 3, 2008, at Faith Countryside Homes-Faith Care Cente in Highland, IL. He was born April 3, 1913, in Robertsdale, AL., the son of Edward and Leonie (Billy) Guentensberger Sr. On April 4, 1936, he married Louise A. Guentensberger nee Hediger, who passed away July 25, 2005. Mr. Guentensberger was born in Alabama and moved to Highland in 1925. He graduated from Highland Grade School in 1928. He worked at Molton-Bartley Shoe Factory in Highland until in closed and he worked at 5/6 Shoe Companies in St. Louis. He retired at age 62and enjoyed traveling to Switzerland, Canada and Hawaii. He loved to walk, and fish with his son Ed. He and his wife made a quilt every winter for 13 years. He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ-Highland, IL. He was also a member of Highland Senior Citizens. Survivors include Daughter-Marion L. (Bill) Reilson of Alhambra, Ill., Son-Edward J. (Margie) Guentensberger, III of Yorkville, Ill., Son-Larry G. (Kay) Reilson of Marine, Ill., Grandchild-Scott R. (Laura) Reilson of St. Jacob, Ill., Grandchild-Pamela E. (Jim) Jensen of Yorkville, Ill., Grandchild-Todd E. (Debbie) Guentensberger of Durham, N.C., Grandchild-Jeffrey W. (Susan) Guentensberger of Cleveland, Tenn., Grandchild-Shelby L. (Doug) Cummins of Casey, Ill., Gr Grandchildren-Seventeen ., Sister-Leona Howe of ., Mich., Brother-Sigfried \"Fritz\" (Ann) Guentensberger of Chicago, Ill., Brother-Eugene Guentensberger of Trenton, Ill. He was preceeded in death by Father-Edward J. Guentensberger, Sr., Mother-Leonie Guentensberger nee Billy, Wife-Louise A. Guentensberger nee Hediger died 7/25/2005, Great Grandchild-Erin Reilson died 10/13/2000, Brother-Leo Guentensberger died 7/13/1987, Brother-Victor Guentensberger(twin) died 9/7/2002, Brother-Paul Guentensberger (twin) died 3/17/2000, Brother-Joseph Guentensberger died 2/13/2008, Sister-Eva Landis died 1/9/1982, Sister-Bernadine Frey died 10/2/2006 Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Ill.
