Delmar E. Blom

Delmar Edwin Blom, age 80 of Alhambra, IL, died Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra, IL. He was born January 22, 1933, in Alhambra, IL, the son of Edwin and Olga (nee Uhe) Blom. On January 23, 1960, he married Wilma J Gusewelle who survives. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ. He was also a member of Salem United Church of Christ (past council president, Men's Brotherhood member, & many committee memberships); American Legion Post 1147-Alhambra; Alhambra Volunteer Fire Department (retired); Alhambra Park Association; Hamel State Bank -now First National Bank(retired Board of Directors); fomer Trustee for Allhambra Township (17 years); . Delmar was born at Alhambra, IL; graduated from Livingston High School in 1950, and served with the US Army in Korea for 16 months, from 1954-56. He worked for Ready Mix Services of Hamel, IL as a truck driver and retired as Plant Manger after 40 years of service in 1998. He and his brother, Vernon, also operated Blom Farms. Delmar never quit in his retirement - he drove limousine for Jen\'s Classic Limousine Service; assisted with funerals for Dauderman Mortuary; helped farm with Korsmeyer Farms; and volunteered for HASCM (food pantry) at Highland. He followed all of his grandchildren\'s activities and enjoyed family vacations. He and his wife enjoyed traveling, especially bus trips, and he enjoyed doing his \"Honey-Do-List\" for for his beloved Wilma. Survivors include : Wife - Wilma J. Blom, Ballwin, MO Brother - Vernon (Judy) Blom, Alhambra, IL Sister - Lorraine Highlander, Highland, IL Sister In-law - Elfreda Kraner, Staunton, IL Nieces and Nephews - Many Numerous He was preceded in death by : Father - Edwin Ernst Blom Mother - Olga Blom, nee Uhe Brother In-law - Melvin Highlander Brother In-law - Wilbur Kraner Father & Mother In-law - Ted & Amanda (nee Oerke) Gusewelle Arrangements are being handled by Dauderman Mortuary in Alhambra, IL.
