Dale Schmalz

Dale G. Schmalz, age 73 of Highland, IL, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at Deceased's Residence in Highland, IL. He was born on Wednesday, August 02, 1939, in Troy, IL, the son of George R. and Lucille S. E. (nee Hildebrand) Schmalz. He was a member of Saint Paul\'s Lutheran Church, Troy, IL; and the Highland Lion\'s Club. Dale was born at Troy, IL; grew up there graduating from St. Paul Lutheran Grade School and McCray-Dewey High School in 1957. He earned a BS, MS and Administration Certificate from SIU-E. He was the co-owner of Terry\'s Appliances in Troy and Collinsville, IL. Dale worked for Highland Community Schools for 30 years - as Director of Guidance (30 years), Assistant Principal (17 years) and Vocational Director (3 years). He chaired/ sponsored numerous activities at the school. A baptized and confirmed member of St. Paul\'s Lutheran Church, he had served as Sunday School Superintendent, on the Board of Education, as a Elder, Treasurer and Usher. Dale was a very active member of the Highland Lions Club. As President, his club was the District Club of the Year; he was Lion of the Year and a Melvin Jones Fellow.Schmalz was also Dist. 1-G Governor, Secretary/Treasurer, Lions of Illinois Foundation Fellow and Ambassador of Goodwill, MD-1 (Illinois) Council Chair, and had received the International President\'s Leadership Award in 2000 and 2007.
