Clarence J. Iberg

Clarence John Iberg, age 97 of Highland, IL, died Wednesday, October 05, 2011, at Avante Nursing Center in Waynesboro, VA. He was born on Thursday, February 19, 1914, in Highland, IL, the son of Max and Mary E. (nee Grimm) Iberg. On Friday, October 05, 1984, he married Grace C. Luehm Iberg (nee Riggs) who passed away on June 28, 2011. He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, IL. He was also a member of EvUCC, (President of Consistory when the new church was built); Sons of American Revolution - General George Rogers Clark Chapter; Madison County Farm Bureau (served as secretary); former Dairy Cattle, Livestock and General Superintendent and Vice President of Madison County Fair Association; American Dairy Assoc.; American Holstein Fresian Assoc.; helped organize Madison County Holstein Fresian Assoc.; Sanitary Milk Producers Assoc.; Helvetia Sharpshooters Society; Jass Club. Clarence was born on the family farm northeast of Highland in Saline Township; he graduated from Highland High School in 1931. Clarence was a starter on the first Highland High School football team, an active fast pitch softball player and at age 65 became an avid golfer. He had lived on the family farm 85 years; started dairy farming with father, then began on his own in 1940; retired from dairying in 1975. He enjoyed playing cards, golfing, dancing, playing pool, and a couples poker club for 50 years. He had traveled all the states except Rhode Island, Delaware and Oregon; had made 3 trips to Europe, and had enjoyed cruises on the Caribbean. Survivors include: Son - Kent C.
