Clarence A. Bargetzi

Clarence A. Bargetzi, age 96 of Highland, IL, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL. He was born on Wednesday, June 20, 1917, in Highland, IL, the son of Bruno H. and Anna (nee Stoffel) Bargetzi. On Sunday, August 18, 1940, he married Dorothy M. Bargetzi (nee Clayton) who passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2007. He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ. He was a former member of Musicians Local #175. Clarence was born north of Highland near the City Water Works and grew up there. He worked as a farm hand, worked at the St. Louis Dairy, and worked at Small Arms Factory in St. Louis. In 1943 he and his wife moved to a farm south of Highland where he grew grain and raised hogs. He retired at age 62 and they moved into Highland in 1998. He played guitar with "Happy Aces" and "Rhythm Rangers" and "Eidelweis" Band. He made violins, his own guitars and his own a boat that he loved to fish from. Survivors include: Sister - Betty G. "Wally" Bargetzi died7/27/2000 Step-Mother - Audra Kelly Bargetzi Step-Sister - Veda Maroon died 6/20/2003 Step-Sister - Freda Young Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 17, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, and from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, with Rev. Christopher W. Hill, Senior Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Animal Shelter, Louis Latzer Library, or Meals on Wheels.
