Billie J. Harvey

Billie Joyce Harvey, age 86 of Highland, IL, died Sunday, January 26, 2014, at her residence. She was born on Wednesday, June 29, 1927, in Flint, MI, the daughter of William Vernon and Opel Florence (nee Hatfield) Davenport. On Saturday, February 19, 1983, she married James Harrison Harvey who survives. She was a member of Riverview Baptist Church and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star - St. Louis. Billie was born near Flint, Michigan and lived in Southeast Missouri up to age 9. She then moved to St. Louis, MO, and graduated from Beaumont High School in 1945. She married and reared her family. She worked as a manager for Food Service at Riverview Gardens High School for 17 years and at Christian Northeast Hospital as a Special Diets Supervisor for 5 years. She moved to Highland on October 19, 2006. She was a great quilter. She loved growing flowers and taking care of her vegetable garden. She also enjoyed reading, traveling (Florida Cruises), antique garage sales, and flea markets. Survivors include: Husband - James Harrison Harvey, Highland, IL Daughter - Karen L. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, and from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, with Chaplain Mike Allen-VNA TIP Hospice officiating. Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to VNA-TIP Hospice; Leukemia and Lymphoma Society; American Heart Association.
