Alfred Kampwerth

Alfred B. Kampwerth, age 85, of Highland, IL., died Tuesday, January 15, 2008, at his residence, Highland, IL. He was born November 23, 1922, in St. Rose, IL., the son of John and Clara (nee Schumacher) Kampwerth. On May 8, 1946, he married Agnes R. Benhoff, who survives. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL; Holy Name Society; Mid-America Dairymen; & Madison County Farm Bureau. Mr. Kampwerth was born south of St. Rose on the family farm. After six years he grew up in Highland (southeast of town) and grew up there. He had worked as a farm hand for his uncle, lived briefly in Helvetia Township. He then operated his own grain and dairy farm northeast of Highland. He retired from farming in 1982 and continued to help his son on the farm. He loved farming; enjoyed playing cards and horseshoes.
