Wayne A. Mollet, age 74 of Highland, IL, died Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at Alhambra Twp., IL. He was born on Saturday, November 01, 1947, in Highland, IL, the son of Gerald and Edna (nee Gilomen) Mollet. On Friday, February 14, 1975, he married Trudy A. (nee Neudecker) Mollet at Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, IL, who survives. He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, Lee Iten Post #439 - American Legion, Highland, IL; National Farmers Org. (Past Secretary of Madison Co.); President of the NFO Barn Board for St. Jacob Livestock; and NRA Member. Wayne was born in Highland, IL; grew up on the family farm. From the age of 5 years old he helped his father on the farm until he entered the US Army. He was a 1965 graduate of Triad High School and from Advanced Technical School. He then worked from 1963 to 1965 for the Marine Township and from 1965 to 1967 he worked for Basler Electric. He served in the US Army, from 1967 to 1969, active duty during the Vietnam War, stationed in Bamberg, Germany, as a Master Mechanic and was a E-5. In 1969 he became owner of the family farm, farming grain and livestock, up until he passed away. He enjoyed shooting trap with his grandchildren, time with family and friends and reminiscing the days gone by at the annual bonfires and family reunions. He raised beef, enjoyed butchering, making summer sausage and was a true John Deere person. Survivors include: Wife - Trudy A. Mollet (nee Neudecker), Highland, IL Daughter - Lynn A. Rivas Grandchild - Kaylen A. Rivas Grandchild - Emma M. Rivas Grandchild - Haley S. Lalor Grandchild - Austin W. Schmonsees Grandchild - Joshua A. Mollet Brother - David L. (Angelina "Angie") Mollet, Highland, IL Brother - Dale W. (Karen E.) Mollet, Troy, IL Brother - Eldon R. Mollet, Highland, IL. He was preceded in death by: Father - Gerald Earl Mollet - Died 5/28/2000 Mother - Edna Marie Mollet (nee Gilomen) - Died 5/21/2014 Daughter-In-Law - Melissa D. Mollet - Died 10/27/2014. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL, with Rev. Todd Bean, Transitional Minister, officiating. Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made In Lieu of Flowers to the Lee Iten Post #439 - American Legion; Shriners Hospitals for Children, Warrior Farms, or Wounded Warriors.
