Jerome L. \"Jerry\" Frey

Jerome L. \"Jerry\" Frey, age 86, of Highland, IL., died Friday, October 23, 2009, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL. He was born January 7, 1923, in Pierron, IL., the son of Paul and Cleda (nee Weindel) Frey. On April 19, 1947, he married Armella L. Frey , who passed away September 13, 1990. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church - Highland, IL; V.F.W. Post 5694 -Highland, IL Mr. Frey was born at Pierron, IL; he grew up there attending Immaculate Conception School. He served with the US Army during WWII with duty in Germany. He was awarded a Purple Heart for his service. After the service, he worked briefly in New York and returned home to attend Diesel Mechanic school. He worked for International Harvester in St. Louis for over 30 years, then worked for Consolidated Freight Ways, as a diesel mechanic retiring in the mid 1980\'s. He was a big Gardener. He enjoyed tinkering with engines and odd-job repairs. He had been very active in the VFW for a number of years. He enjoyed reading magazines, especially ones about maintaining his health. (Mary) Frey of Highland, Ill., Sister-Elizabeth Frey of Greenville, Ill., Grandchild-Marcia L. (Tim) Stangle of Colorado Springs, Colo., Grandchild-David M. (Katie) Luyster of Collinsville, Ill., Grandchild-Eric S. Frey of Bowling Green, Ky., Grandchild-Stephanie A. Luyster of Collinsville, Ill., Step Grandchild-Jennifer N.
