Gloria M. Henschen

Gloria Marie Henschen, age 84 of Alhambra, IL, died Saturday, December 05, 2015, at Life Care Hospital in Plano, TX. She was born March 09, 1931, in Carlinville, IL, the daughter of Roy and Carrie (nee Taylor) Kulenkamp. On March 12, 1949 she married Eugene "Gene" Philippi. He passed away July 16, 1981. On March 17, 1987 she married Norman L. Henschen. He passed away January 12, 2012. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ. She was also a member of Alhambra Community Club ; Eastern Star ; Salem UCC Women's Guild. Gloria was born in Carlinville, IL and grew up in Dorchester. She graduated from Gillespie High School in 1948. She had worked at the Marine Garment Factory. She became a Beautician and owned and operated Gloria's Beauty Shop in Alhambra for many years. She loved her business and her clients, making sure everyone's hair looked perfect and sending them away feeling better about themselves. Gloria was always happy and was very family oriented. She enjoyed planning family reunions and lived to spend time with her family. She also enjoyed quilting and traveling. (Brian) Verson Step Grandchild - Brett L. (Jennifer) Henschen Step Grandchild - Greg L. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, December 11, 2015, at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra, IL and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra, IL. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra, IL., with Rev. Jerry Amiri, officiating. Interment will be at Spangle Cemetery in Livingston, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Church of Christ.
