Dennis J. "Denny" Cygan, Sr., age 74 of Marine, IL, died Sunday, March 14, 2021, at his home in Marine, IL. He was born on Wednesday, October 30, 1946, in Joliet, IL, the son of Edward and Shirley (nee Blackburn) Cygan. On Friday, November 11, 1966, he married Lynn M. Cygan, nee Green, at St. Albert The Great Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, Illinois, who survives. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Marine; Secretary at S.A.R.A. Highland Race Track; K-10 Model Trains, Maryville, IL; former member of the Meat Cutter Local 88, St. Louis. Dennis was born at Joliet, IL, grew up in E. St. Louis, IL, and graduated from Assumption Catholic High School, E. St. Louis in 1964. He served with the US Air Force from 1966 to 1970, stationed overseas in England and stateside in Oregon. He worked as a Meat Cutter for National Grocery Stores for 20 years and attended Belleville Area College receiving a business degree. He then attended Vatterott Tech School, St. Louis and became a certified HVAC technician. He worked for Walters Metal Fabrication Company, Pontoon Beach, IL, from 1997 to 2014. He enjoyed family, trains, camping and classic cars. Survivors include: Wife - Lynn M. Cygan, nee Green, Marine, IL Son - D.J. (Michele) Cygan, Highland, IL Son - Brett R. (Robyn) Cygan, Highland, IL Daughter - Jill E. (Derek) Horn, Highland, IL Grandchild - Jacob Cygan Grandchild - Cole Cygan Grandchild - Alex Cygan Grandchild - Sara Cygan Grandchild - Sydney Horn Grandchild - Peyton Horn Brother - Richard (Audrey) Cygan, Fairview Heights, IL Sister - Mary Lou (Andy) Anderson, Swansea, IL Sister - Cynthia (Mark) Voegtle, Fairview Heights, IL. He was preceded in death by: Father - Edward F. Cygan Mother - Shirley E. Cygan, nee Blackburn. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 8:00 AM to 9:15 AM on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at Saint Elizabeth Catholic Church in Marine, IL, with Rev. Fr. Paul Habing, Pastor, officiating.
