Carolyn M. Cook

Carolyn M. Cook, age 73 of Marine, IL, died Friday, April 22, 2022, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. She was born on Thursday, November 25, 1948, in Marine, IL, the daughter of Lawrence and Esther (nee Iberg) Pollmann. Carolyn was born at Breese, IL; at an early age the family moved to Highland, IL, where she attended Saint Paul Grade School and graduated from Highland High School in 1966. She worked in Washington D.C. for the F.B.I. for several years and then returned to Highland to attend Lewis & Clark College. After earning her degree, she worked for Emerson Electric in St. Louis, then McDonnell-Douglas for 8 years in fiber optic cable department. During that time, she obtained a Master's Degree in Geography at SIU-E. Carolyn was employed at NGA in St. Louis until retiring for health reasons in the 2000's. An accomplished artist, her oil paintings have been shown in New York and Arizona. She enjoyed traveling the United States, especially visiting National Parks and Civil War Battle Fields. She was an amateur astronomer. Survivors include: Brother - Dennis L. Pollmann, Marine, IL Brother - Leonard L. (Spouse-Linda Feyen) Pollmann, Nashville, TN Daughter - Jeanine R. Newcome Grandson - Jeremy N. Morlock. She was preceded in death by: Father - Lawrence F. Pollmann - Died 10/17/2014 Mother - Esther A. (nee Iberg) Pollmann - Died 1/30/2013. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, April 29, 2022, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 29, 2022, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army.
