C. M. Sgt. Jerome Abner, Retired USAF, age 79 of O'Fallon, IL, died Saturday, June 04, 2022, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL. He was born on Friday, September 11, 1942, in Montgomery, Alabama, the son of Eugene and Juanita Abner. Jerry first lived in Montgomery, AL, moved and graduated from high school in Cleveland, OH. He served over 24 years in the United States Air Force. When he retired he continued to work for another 24 years as a Civil Service employee at Scott Air Force Base, IL. He was a Past Master and very active in P.G. Porter Masonic Lodge #142 AF & AM, E. St. Louis, IL. Jerry also was active with the V.F. W. Post #4183, Belleville, IL. He enjoyed photography; and, was always on the computer. His family was very important to him. Survivors include: Former Wife - Jennifer Abner, nee Curl, Spanaway, WA Son - Randy J. Abner, Spanaway, WA Grandchild - Jessica Abner Grandchild - Ashley Abner Grandchild - Kyle J. Abner Half Sister - Lisa Card, Detroit, MI. He was preceded in death by: Father - Eugene Abner Mother - Juanita Abner Wife - Teresa Abner, nee Arnold - Died 11/17/2019 Step Child - Reginald Arnold. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 11:30 AM to 11:55 AM on Friday, July 8, 2022, at Greater Mt. Olive Missonary Baptist Church, 423 W. Dee St., Lebanon, IL. Memorial Service will be at 12:00 PM on Friday, July 8, 2022, at Greater Mt. Olive Missonary Baptist Church, 423 W. Dee St., Lebanon, IL, with Rev. Earl Scott, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors.
