William L. "Bill" Ashauer

William L. "Bill" Ashauer, age 76 of Hamel, IL, formerly of Holiday Shores, died Saturday, March 18, 2017, at his home in Hamel, IL, with his family by his side. He was born on Thursday, September 26, 1940, in Alton, IL, the son of Carl and Hazel (nee Krotz) Ashauer. On Saturday, June 28, 1969, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Prairietown, IL, he married Shirley J. Ashauer nee Dustman who survives. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Carpenter, IL and the Machinist Union. Born at Alton, IL; raised in Carpenter, IL. Graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1958. He was very active in sports during his youth. He served with the US Army with duty in Korea. He worked 43 years and retired from Olin Corp, Alton, IL, in the Shot Gun Shell T400 area as a Machinist Adjuster. He was a very active grandfather, loved being there for them and watching them play sports. He enjoyed bowling, camping, travelling and was a St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues fan. Ashauer (Triplet), Hamel, IL Grandchild - Morgan R. Ashauer (Triplet), Hamel, IL Grandchild - Peyton L. Ashauer (Triplet), Hamel, IL Grandchild - Tyler W. Fulks, Holiday Shores, IL Grandchild - Benjamin M. Kelley, Holiday Shores, IL Sister In-law - Donna J. Ashauer, Worden, IL Sister In-law - Betty A. (Norman) Kalaskie, Godfrey, IL Many - Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by: Father - Carl M. Ashauer (died 3/3/1999) Mother - Hazel P. Ashauer (nee Krotz) (died 12/3/2001) Daughter In-law - Jennifer L. "Jen" Meyer-Ashauer (died 9/27/2012) Brother - Carl E. "Gene" Ashauer (died 11/16/2016). Arrangements are being handled by Dauderman Mortuary in Hamel, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Dauderman Mortuary in Hamel, IL and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, at Zion Lutheran Church in Carpenter, IL. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church in Carpenter, IL., with Rev. H.R. Curtis, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Carpenter, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or Center for Advanced Medicine @ Siteman Cancer Center-Leukemia Lymphoma Division.
