William J. "Bill" Klostermann

William J. "Bill" Klostermann, age 72 of Pocahontas, IL, died Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on Wednesday, July 03, 1946, in Highland, IL, the son of Arnold and Catherine (nee Albers) Klostermann. On Saturday, August 12, 1967, he married Beverly A. "Bev" Klostermann, nee Daiber at St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Pierron, IL and the United Steel Workers. Bill was born in Highland, IL and grew up in Pocahontas. He graduated from St. Paul High School in 1964. He helped his father on the family farm, worked at Pet Milk Company in Greenville, IL, for a short time before working at Alton Box Board, Highland. He joined the US Army, active and reserve duty from 1966 to 1971. After his active duty, he continued working at Alton Box Board later know as Jefferson Smurfit and retired after 43 years in 2007. He always worked on the family farm, which he eventually took over and where he and his family moved to in 1976. After retirement, he enjoyed making projects out of wood for his family. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing Euchre and watching sports - specially St. Louis Cardinal’s Baseball. He coached Khoury League baseball for four years and he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. He loved butchering and was known for "Uncle Bill's Sausage". Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Friday, January 18, 2019, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral Mass will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 18, 2019, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL, with Rev. Pat G. Jakel, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Heartland Hospice or Masses.
