William H. "Bill" Dickerson

William H. "Bill" Dickerson, age 86 of Highland, IL, died Friday, February 21, 2014, at Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, IL. He was born on Sunday, June 12, 1927, in Olney, IL, the son of Shirley Robert and Corrine (nee Dennison) Dickerson. On Saturday, June 26, 1999, he married Marlene J. Dickerson (nee Noll Baer) who survives. He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, IL; Masonic Lodge #583, A.F. & A.M. (Masons)-Highland, IL (Life Member); Ainad Temple, A.A.O.N.O.M.S. (Shriners)-East St. Louis, IL; Silver Lake Shrine Club-Highland, IL; MA CLI BO Circus Unit (Charter Member); Helvetia Sharpshooters - Highland, IL; VFW Post 5694-Highland, IL (Life Member); Lee Iten Post 439-American Legion-Highland, IL. Born at Olney, IL; reared in Noble, IL and graduated in 1945 from Noble High School. From 1945 to 1946 he served with the US Army Air Corp with duty in Germany. He moved to Highland in 1953 and was the manager of the A & P Store until 1966, when he began working for Strat-O-Span, Breese, Illinois as office manager from 1966 to 1981. He founded Dickerson Fire Extinguser and owned and operated it from 1981 to 1992. He enjoyed traveling, wood working, dancing, playing cards (euchre) and watching his grandchildren's sporting events. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, February 24, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, and from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL, with Rev. Christopher W. Hill, Senior Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Evangelical United Church of Christ-Highland, IL.
