William J. "Bill" Aschbacher

William J. "Bill" Aschbacher, age 76 of Highland, IL, died Friday, March 31, 2017, at Faith Countryside Homes/Faith Care Center in Highland, IL. He was born on Monday, August 26, 1940, in East Saint Louis, IL, the son of John and Helen (nee Weidner) Aschbacher. On Saturday, August 01, 1959, he married Rosalie A. Aschbacher nee Dillon at St. Joseph Catholic Church, E. St. Louis, IL, who survives. He was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL; Highland Lion's Club; Highland Jaycees; Honorary Member Knights of Columbus-Council 1580, Highland; Board of Directors for Faith Countryside Homes; Kirchenfest Chairman in 1977. Bill was born in East St. Louis, IL, graduate of Assumption High School in 1958. He moved to Highland in 1959. He attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, earned a degree in Business Administration. He worked at Alton Box Board Company; continued at Jefferson Smurfit & Smurfit Stone, retiring in 1998 as a salesman. He worked part-time at Trouw Nutrition for several years. He enjoyed playing golf with friends. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bill sang bass in St. Paul Adult Choir for many, many year. He was a driver for Meals on Wheels for over 5 years and a member of the Highland Country Club. Survivors include: Wife - Rosalie A. Aschbacher , Highland, IL Son - Terrence M. Gregory III, Pocahontas, IL Grandchild - Stephanie E. Aschbacher, Fort Worth, TX Grandchild - Lauren C. Aschbacher, Houston, TX Grandchild - Colby R. (Mary Jo) Beckemeyer, Pocahontas, IL Grandchild - Chelsea N. Beckemeyer, Nashville, IL Great Grandchild - Taya Great Grandchild - Emerie Great Grandchild - Reese Great Grandchild - Adeline Great Grandchild - Dalton. He was preceded in death by: Father - John R. Aschbacher, died 6/30/1981 Mother - Helen M. Aschbacher, nee Weidner, died 10/5/1994. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, April 03, 2017, and from 8:00 AM to 8:45 AM on Tuesday, April 04, 2017, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral Mass will be at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, April 04, 2017, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL., with Rev. Father Pat G. Jakel, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul School Educational Foundation; Highland Area Community Foundation or Louis Latzer Memorial Public Library.
