Walter Reece

Mr. Walter M.\"Butch\" age 66, of Highland, IL., died Saturday, December 5, 2009, at Helia Healthcare of Greenville in Greenville, IL. He was born September 12, 1943, in St. Louis, MO., the son of Walter and Dellaphine (nee Young) Reece. On October 23, 1989, he married Rae Ellen Reece, nee Hebrank , who survives. He was a member of Lee Iten Post #439, American Legion - Highland, IL; USS Saratoga Association; former member of the Highland Historical Society - Highland, IL. Mr. Reece was born at St. Louis, Missouri; Graduated from Herculanium High School, Herculanium, MO in 1961. He entered the US Navy in May of \'61 and was trained as a broadcast journalist. He served in Keflavik, Iceland and on the USS Saratoga. After his military service he worked for KJCF-AM Radio in Festus, MO; then KFMO in Flat River, MO. He later worked for St. Joseph Lead Company-Herculanium, MO, Aeronautical Chart and Information Center-St. Louis, MO, Ralston Purina Foods and Chow Divisions-St. Louis, MO and Battle Creek, MI, Wayne Feed-Topeka, KS and Occidental Chemical Company-Louisville, KY. He ended his career creating cereals for Ralston Purina having worked for them over 17 years. He enjoyed dancing. Butch collected Lionel Trains; enjoyed being a Stained Glass Artist; and was an avid woodworker. Yearly, he had a large vegetable garden and flower gardens. He and his wife enjoyed tent-camping for a number of years. Survivors include Wife-Rae Ellen Reece, nee Hebrank of Highland, Ill., Sister-Marion Sue (Dave) Logsdon of Pevely, Mo., Sister-Barbara E.
