Walter H. Orlet Jr., age 81 of Highland, IL, died Friday, March 25, 2016, at his residence in Highland, IL. He was born on Monday, September 24, 1934, in Highland, IL, the son of Walter and Lucilda (nee Koch) Orlet. On Tuesday, May 01, 1962, he married Mary J. Orlet nee Trame who survives. He was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL; Knights of Columbus, Council #1580, Highland, IL; former member United Paperworkers International Union, Local #1912. Walter was born at Highland; grew up in Highland; graduate of St. Paul Catholic School in 1951. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked for Basler Electric for 1 years. He worked for Alton Box Company, working in the plant for 10 years, then in the office doing cost estimates leaving Jefferson Smurfit in 1984. He was a computer operator for 1st National Bank in Highland in 1985 the bank became Central Bank and later Merchantile Bank and retiring in 1999. He enjoyed following professional sports (especially baseball), gardening and coaching little league baseball for his sons. He worked Bingo at K.C. Hall for 8 years. Survivors include: Wife - Mary J. Orlet, Saint Charles, MO Grandchild - Ben J. Orlet, Saint Charles, MO Grandchild - Theo R. Orlet (twin), Jenkintown, PA Grandchild - Ian R. Orlet (twin), Jenkintown, PA Grandchild - Ivy E. Dickens, Edwardsville, IL Brother In-law - Bernie Hilmes, Carlyle, IL. He was preceded in death by: Father - Walter J. Orlet, Sr. Mother - Lucilda C. Orlet nee Koch Sister - Carol Hilmes (died 2/8/2015). Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 31, 2016, and from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM on Friday, April 01, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 01, 2016, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL., with Rev. Msgr. David L. Peters, Pastor Emeritus, officiating. Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Paul School Education Association.
