Wallace P. Schrumpf

Wallace P. \"Wally\" Schrumpf, age 88 of Highland, IL, died Saturday, January 22, 2011, at his residence in rural Highland, IL. He was born on January 19, 1923, in Highland, IL, the son of William and Caroline (nee Kraus) Schrumpf. On June 13, 1945, he married Shirley Mae Zobrist who survives. He was a member of Grantfork United Church of Christ. He was also the Grantfork UCC Sunday School Superintendent; Woodmen of the World Camp 105; Highland Sportsman Club; Madison County Fair Association; Madison County Farm Bureau; 4H Leader; American Hereford Association. Wallace was born at home, and lived in the same house for 88 years on Deck\'s Prairie. He attended Giger School, and he has farmed his entire life. He helped build most of the buildings on his farm. He was known as the \"Govenor of Deck\'s Prairie\". He served as Saline Township Road Commisioner for 12 years. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, baseball, cards, hunting , fishing, showing Hereford Cattle, dancing, and making sausage, and was a Big Cardinal Fan. He was an avid mushroom hunter and enjoyed checking out the neighborhood on his \"Gator\". Survivors include : Wife - Shirley M. Schrumpf nee Zobrist, Highland, IL Son - Dennis L.
