Veronica B. "Fronie" Wagner, age 90 of Highland, IL, died Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Faith Countryside Homes/Faith Care Center in Highland, IL. She was born on Saturday, February 16, 1924, in St. Rose, IL, the daughter of Henry A. and Catherine (nee Tebbe) Grapperhaus. On Tuesday, October 23, 1945, she married Orville J. Wagner who passed away on Friday, April 04, 1986. She was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL; member of Daughters of Isabella; former member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church-Pocahontas; Altar Society at St. Nicholas. Mrs. Wagner was born and reared at St. Rose, IL. She worked at Deutch's Powder Egg Company and Moulton Bartley Shoe Factory. She also worked for Agnes Kirstein Catering and Neubauer's Catering in Highland, where mashed potatoes were her specialty. She enjoyed cooking and quilting. Mr. and Mrs. Wagner had operated a grain and dairy farm. In 1975, after 30 years, they quit the dairy business and retired in 1978.She was also a volunteer at Faith Countryside Homes. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, July 21, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, and from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM, on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL, with Rev. Fr. Charles A. Edwards, Pastor, Highland, IL officiating. Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois; Alzheimer's Foundation; Masses.
