Thelma Chicola Lehr

Thelma Chicola Lehr, age 83 of Conroe, TX, formerly of Highland, died Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at her daughter's residence, Pocahontas, IL. She was born on Friday, February 10, 1933, in Portageville, MO, the daughter of Andrew Leo and Edith (nee Turner) DeLisle. She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Spring, TX, and the church Women's Guild. Thelma was born in Portageville, MO and grew up there and St. Louis. She graduated from Fontbonne University, St. Louis, MO, in 1952 with a Bachelors Degree in Science and Dietary Nutrition. She was a Registered Dietitian. She worked as a dietitian for a short time. She then worked 40 years as a Social Worker in Missouri and Texas. She lived in Highland until December of 1980, when she moved to Conroe, TX. She loved to garden and have fun and play games with her girl friends. She was a great story teller and had a warm smile that she shared with everyone. Survivors include: Daughter - Andrea J. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Memorial Service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL., with Pastor Don W. Propeck, St. Paul United Church of Christ, Jamestown, IL, officiating. Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery, Highland, IL.
