Shirley M. Schrumpf, age 86 of Highland, IL, died Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at Deceased's Residence in Highland, IL. She was born on Thursday, May 19, 1927, in Highland, IL, the daughter of Oscar R. and Emilie M. (nee Schuepbach) Zobrist. On Wednesday, June 13, 1945, she married Wallace P. "Wally" Schrumpf who passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2011. She was a member of Grantfork United Church of Christ, Grantfork, IL. Shirley was born south of Highland and was reared on the family farm. She attended Frey Country School, then helped with the family farm until marriage. Following her marriage they moved to Deck's Prairie and have lived there ever since. She enjoyed: playing cards and taught all of her grandchildren how to play cards; baking; sharing recipes; gardening; sewing; cross stitching; quilting; reading. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Grantfork United Church of Christ in Grantfork, IL, with Rev. Tim A. Darmour-Paul, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Grantfork United Church of Christ.
