Ruth A. Meffert, age 85 of Highland, IL, died Sunday, November 15, 2015, at Faith Countryside Homes/Faith Care Center in Highland, IL. She was born on Monday, June 30, 1930, in Highland, IL, the daughter of William T. and Alice M. (nee Duft) Miener. On Thursday, October 28, 1948, she married Glenn A. Meffert who passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012. She was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, IL. She was a former member Grantfork United Church of Christ;Order of Eastern Star, Highland Chapter 524,(Past Worthy Matron); Women's Guild @ Grantfork United Church of Christ (Past President). Ruth was born at Highland, IL, grew up on farm west of Highland. She moved to Grantfork area at age 16. She was a waitress at Diamond Mineral Springs; also had worked at East End Merchantile, Highland. After marriage she helped operate the grain & dairy farm with her husband. They moved to Highland in 1965, after retiring from farming. She worked as a secretary for her husband's Country Companies Insurance Agency. She enjoyed travelling, touring Europe, Hawaii and all over the U.S.A.. She liked gardening and yard work. She enjoyed spending time and helping with the grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Thursday, November 19, 2015, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, November 19, 2015, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL., with Rev. Christopher W. Hill, Senior Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Grantfork United Church of Christ Cemetery in Grantfork, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Evangelical United Church of Christ; Faith Countryside Homes; or Grantfork United Church of Christ.
