Ruby M. Wilson

Ruby M. Wilson, age 89 of Highland, IL, died Sunday, October 20, 2013, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL. She was born on Thursday, May 08, 1924, in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of George M. and Ellen (nee Ginger) Rich. On Sunday, January 01, 1950, she married Willard B. Wilson who passed away on Thursday, April 14, 1955. She was a member of Royal Neighbors of America-Camp 1957; Local #840, International Union of Electronic, Electrical, Salaried, Machine & Furniture Workers - AFL/CIO. Mrs. Wilson was born near Vandalia in Fayette County. She grew up there. She had lived and worked in Aurora, Effingham, Charleston, Chicago and moved to Greenville in 1950. Following her husband's death, she moved to Highland in 1958. Mrs. Wilson worked for Basler Electric in Highland for over 27 years, retiring at age 66. Prior to starting to work at Basler's, Ruby had worked for the East End Cafe, Imperial Clock Factory, and helped her sister with Maxine's Beauty Shop (all in Highland). She enjoyed crocheting and had made many, many afghans. She moved to Faith Countryside Homes-Apartments in Highland in 2006, and to Highland Health Care Center two and half years ago. Survivors include: Daughter - Demaris A. Wilson, Locust Grove, VA Grandson - Alex W. Kogut, Falls Church, VA Special Niece and Caregiver - Jan Nihiser Schneider, Highland, IL. She was preceded in death by: Father - George M. Rich Mother - Ellen Rich, nee Ginger Husband - Willard B. Wilson died 4/14/1955 Son - Thomas M. Wilson died 11/28/2006 Sister - A. Maxine Nihiser Oberdalhoff died 2/19/2008 Brother - Floyd D. Rich died 1942 Brother - D. Merle Rich died 2/7/1996. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, and from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, with Chaplain Michael Garrison, Heartland Hospice, officiating. Interment will be at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Greenville, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Countryside Homes-Apartments Activities Fund.
