Ronald J. "Pappy" Hessenauer

Ronald J. "Pappy" Hessenauer, age 70 of Pierron, IL, died Friday, May 29, 2015, at Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, IL. He was born August 11, 1944, in Highland, IL, the son of Richard John and Leveda Elaine (nee Miller) Hessenauer. He was a member of Highland VFW Post 5694 (Past Commander and Life Member); American Legion Post #665 St. Jacob, IL; Legion Riders of Troy; Teamsters #525 in Alton; AARP; Vietnam Veterans of America (Life Member) Chapter 0269; Disabled American Veterans (Life Member) Jack Graiched #90 Chapter; Past District 12 VFW Commander. Ronald was born at Highland, IL; grew up in Old Ripley, IL and attended Greenville High School. He served with the US Navy from 9/19/62-9/13/66 with duty on the USS Robinson. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. After his discharge, he served over 20 years in the US Army Reserves. He worked for Rasler Plumbing in Greenville after his military services. He also had worked at Charles Todd in Highland for many years and retired from Civil Services at the Melvin Price Service Center in Granite City, IL. He had enjoyed bowling in several leagues when younger. As a woodworker, he had made furniture for his children and grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, June 05, 2015, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Memorial funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 05, 2015, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. at 12:30 PM Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors or VFW Post 5694.
