Roland E. Ambuehl

Roland Edward Ambuehl, age 79 of Aviston, IL, died Saturday, September 25, 2010, at Aviston Countryside Manor in Aviston, IL. He was born on December 15, 1930, in Highland, IL, the son of Raymond and Selma (nee Buettikofer) Ambuehl. On April 24, 1954, he married Myrna Beverly Ambuehl (nee Steiner) who survives. He was also a member of Madison County Farm Bureau; Mid-West Tool Collectors Association (life member); The Hardware Companies Kollector Klub, Richmond, MO.. Rollie was born in Saline Township, North of Highland, IL. He graduated Highland High School in 1948. He joined the US Army from 1954-1956, with duty in Germany serving with the 46th Field Artillery Unit. When he returned from the service he worked at Madison Service Co. for a year, and then farmed from 1957 - 1971. He then worked at St. Joseph Hospital in the Maintenance Dept. from 1972 until his retirement in 1995. His great passion was attending auctions. He was an avid collector of decanters and fruit jars, lightning rod balls, and especially tools. He belonged to THCKK(The Hardware Companies Kollector Klub) of Richmond, MO and was a life member of Mid West Tool Collectors Assoc. He was also a Multi Gallon blood donor to the American Red Cross.
