Robert R. Jenkins

Robert R. Jenkins, age 63, of Highland, IL., died Saturday, June 24, 2006, at his home. He was born January 12, 1943, in Eldon, MO., the son of Robert and Martha (Rea) Jenkins. On August 14, 1965, he married Carolyn L. Jenkins , who survives. Mr. Jenkins was born at Eldon, MO; grew up in DuQuoin, IL graduating from DuQuoin Township H.S. in 1961. He earned a BA in Chemistry & Math at SIU-C in 1965; M.S.Ed. in Math from SIU-E in 1973. Mr. Jenkins taught Chemistry @ St. Charles, MO H.S. in 1965; Math @ Madison, IL H.S. 1966-68; Edwardsville, IL Unit District 7 1968-94 {math at the Jr. High from \'68-84 & @ the High School from 84-94). He enjoyed woodworking and doing custom work for basket weavers and craft makers. His speciality was scroll work. He enjoyed trout fishing and camping. Mr. & Mrs. Jenkins had enjoyed travelling to England, Hawaii, Bermuda and other places. [Mrs. Jenkins taught at E. St. Louis, Collinsville and currently at SWIC at Belleville.] He was a member of United Church of Christ of Marine; (4 yrs. on the council); IL Retired Teachers Assoc.(Life Member). Survivors include Wife-Carolyn L. Jenkins of Highland, Ill., Son-Matthew L. (fiancee Jackie L. Tarrant) Jenkins of Highland, Ill., Future Grandson-Douglas M. Kuhn of Highland, Ill., Sister-Jean E. (Richard) Harr of Mililani, Hawaii, Sister-Roberta S.\"Bert\" (Larry) Johnson of Carbondale, Ill., Sister-Martha C. \"Marty\" (Ken) Ramsey of Troy, Ill., Brother-George Delmar (Katrina) Jenkins of Perth, Australia, Nieces & Nephews-Numerous, Great Nieces & Nephews-Numerous He was preceded in death by Father-Robert Delmar Jenkins, Mother-Martha Eloise Jenkins, nee Rea. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Marine, Ill. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at United Church of Christ of Marine in Marine, IL, and from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 28, 2006. , at United Church of Christ of Marine Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at United Church of Christ of Marine in Marine, IL., with Rev. Philip H. Kershner, Pastor United Church of Christ of Marine, officiating. Interment will be at Marine Cemetery in Marine, Ill. Memorial contributions may be made to United Church of Christ of Marine Renovation Fund; Hospice of Southern Illinois; or American Cancer Society.
