Robert E. Menz

Robert Eugene Menz, age 66, of Highland, IL., died Friday, April 20, 2007, at Saint Joseph Hospital in Highland, IL. He was born November 11, 1940, in Highland, IL., the son of Roscoe and Marie (Steiner) Menz. On August 26, 1961, he married Noreta R. \"Sammy\" Menz, nee James, who passed away October 14, 1995. Mr. Menz graduated from Highland High School in 1958, he was a member of the baseball team that made it to the finals in 1958 and was a member of the Elite 8 Basketball team. He graduated MacMurray College. After college he went to work for Boatmen\'s National Bank of St. Louis, and in 1970 he went to work at First National Bank in Highland. In 1972 he was elected President of First National Bank and later Chairman of the Board. He retired in 1988. Mr. Menz was currently the Treasurer of the Board of Managers for Highland City Cemetery. He had served on the Board of Directors for the Federal Reserve Bank in St. Louis and as President of C. Kinne & Company (A Highland business for over 150 years). He worked as a stock broker for Charlotte S. Cohen Brokerage and for the IRS\'s Help Desk. He was a former President of the Louis Latzer Public Library Board and former Treasurer for the City of Highland. He enjoyed golf, mushrooming and spending winters in Florida. He was a member of the Highland Chamber of Commerce (Past President) and a former member of Highland Country Club. Survivors include Son-Jeffrey J. (Terry) Menz of Highland, Ill., Son-Bradley R. (Paula) Menz of Highland, Ill., Sister-Beverly J. (Fredrich) Figge of Marco Island, Fla., Grandchild-Simon R. Menz of Highland, Ill., Grandchild-Caroline A. Menz of Highland, Ill., Grandchild-Jacob B. Menz of Highland, Ill. He was preceeded in death by Father-Roscoe Ellington Menz (died 8/5/1990), Mother-Marie Louise Menz, nee Steiner (died 12/31/99), Wife-Noreta R. \"Sammy\" Menz, nee James (died 10/14/1995), Brother-John A. Menz (died Dec. 2000), Grandchild-Justine Paula Menz (died 7/26/97), and Pet Dog-\"Andy\" a West Highland Terrier. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Ill.
